Studio Information

Location

My studio is located within the Ellington Business Centre, in the village of Ellington, Northumberland, NE61 5HB.

How to get here

Follow signs for Ellington on the A1068 and turn off the roundabout (left from the North, right from the South) into the village. You will pass a pub on the right (The Plough Inn) and shop on the left. Follow the road past the new housing estate on the right, passing through two chicanes and the road will bend to the right past the Ellington Institute on the right. Immediately before the next chicane, there is a gate on the right which is the entrance to the Business Centre. Follow the road around the back of the Centre (signposted 'main entrance') and you have arrived.

The Studio is also on the bus route X20 which runs from Alnwick to Newcastle and Vice Versa (timetable here). You will need the stop for Ellington Colliery (bus stop 150 yards from Ellington Business Centre).

What to bring

Regardless of the type of shoot arranged, the time in the studio is all yours. If you have booked a portrait or family session, feel free to bring outfit changes and props. For young children, I would recommend you bring a couple of their favourite toys/cuddly toys to help them feel at ease.

I shoot using a 2.7m wide white backdrop so the focus is purely on the subjects and there are no distractions in the background. Other colours and backdrops can be available by prior arrangement.

For Pet Photoshoots, of course you will need to remember your pet! I have a selection of treats in the studio to get your dog's attention but if your dog has a particular favourite, feel free to bring those in. Again, if you have any outfits for your dog, feel free to bring them in!

And of course, your ideas! I am happy to guide and suggest poses but I am more than willing to follow and work to your requirements! The time is yours!

What to expect

It is important that whoever is being photographed (be it human or canine!) is comfortable and at ease within the environment in the studio. When you arrive, I will greet you and show you to my office suite. I will give you time to settle in, let dogs have a sniff and start taking a few test shots so that you know what to expect with the lighting. We will then commence your shoot which generally lasts anywhere between 20 minutes and an hour depending on outfit changes and requirements etc.

Once you have had your shoot, I will then upload around 30 of the best images to my website for you to view or you can arrange a time to come back into the studio for a viewing session (no further charge). You can then pick your free print and have a think and discussion about any further items you may be interested in purchasing. Photos are held for 6 months from the date of the shoot so there is no pressure to make any decisions!
